Terms of service

These are the rules for using Riffbase in the cloud, meaning a workspace hosted for your band. The Riffbase code has its own license, PolyForm Noncommercial 1.0.0, and these terms do not change it: the license is about the software, this is about the service. Data is covered in the privacy notice, and if you install it yourself, in self-hosting privacy.

Plans

You can’t rehearse offline for now: even if you save a song on your device, it won’t open when the server is unreachable.

Your account and your music

Your password and the people you invite are your responsibility. You keep all your rights to your music: lyrics, scores, and anything you upload or write.

For the service to work, you give Riffbase a limited, non-exclusive, free permission to store, copy, process, and show that content to the members of your band, only as far as needed to provide the service. That permission ends when you delete the content or the workspace; backups are overwritten in their normal cycle.

When you upload something, you confirm that you have the right to do so, or that its use within the band is allowed. Third-party scores and recordings, for example, may need permission.

Backups are made carefully, but there is no guarantee nothing will ever be lost, so export what matters to you.

What you can’t do

Don’t use Riffbase for spam, malware, or illegal content, or to store things that have nothing to do with the band’s music. Don’t scrape it or push it until it falls over.

Content that is illegal or breaks these terms can be removed, and the account or workspace behind it can be restricted or suspended. These decisions are made by a person, not an algorithm.

Reporting content

The single point of contact for users and authorities is [email protected], in Spanish or English.

If you find illegal content in a hosted workspace, write there with: where it is (a link or a clear description), why you think it is illegal, your name and email, and a statement that you are reporting it in good faith. Each report is reviewed promptly and you will be told what was decided.

If content is removed or an account is suspended, whoever uploaded it gets an explanation of the reasons and can reply to that same email to ask for it to be reviewed.

Closing your account

You can close your account or your band’s workspace at any time by writing to [email protected]. After it is closed, whether by you or by a permanent suspension, you have 30 days to export your data. After that it is deleted.

If Riffbase stops offering the cloud service, you will be told at least 30 days in advance so you can export everything.

Suspension

If someone abuses the service or breaks these terms, their workspace can be suspended. Except in a security emergency, a warning comes first.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change in an important way, you will be emailed about 30 days before the change takes effect. If you don’t agree, you can close your account before then.

Pricing

Bands use Riffbase for free. When Organization is available, its price, renewal, and taxes will be shown before you subscribe.

Liability

Riffbase is offered as it is today, at an early stage. Reasonable care is taken to keep it running and to protect your data, but there may be outages or bugs. Riffbase is not liable for indirect damage, or for losses caused by misuse or by causes beyond its control.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for intent or gross negligence, or the rights the law gives consumers.

Applicable law

These terms are governed by Spanish law. If you are a consumer, you can bring a claim before the courts where you live, and if you live in the EU you keep the protection of your own country’s mandatory consumer law.
